Breath Testing

Digestive Disease Associates offers both hydrogen and hPylori breath testing. These tests are safe, simple and non-invasive and are used to diagnose digestive conditions.

The Hydrogen Breath Test measures the amount of hydrogen in a person’s breath caused by undigested lactose (milk protein) or fructose (sugar) in the colon or small intestine. This test is often used to detect small intestine bacterial overgrowth (SIBO) and food intolerances to lactose and other poorly absorbed sugars.

The hPylori Breath Test is used to detect helicobacter pylori bacteria in the stomach or duodenum (first part of the stomach).
